  • History

Acquired in 1994, Rabiana Vineyard was a personal achievement for its founder, Mr. Sebastião de Freitas Martins. Besides it’s passion for pigeon-breeding, he always nourishes a special taste for viniculture, being his initial purpose the production only for own consumption. With the growth of the plantation and the obtaining of excellent conditions of production and vinification a new level is reached, beginning the commercialization of the wines. Currently, the vineyard has 12 hectares of vineyards planted with red (Vinhão) and white grapes varieties (Loureiro, Trajadura and Arinto), and is planted in a single ascending line, in granitic soil. It also has a modern wine cellar, with an area of 400m2, where four stone presses are installed for the fermentation of the red grapes, and stainless-steel wine vats with a cold system for the fermentation of the white grapes.

    The Vineyard

Rabiana Vineyard is located in the Ave sub-region, in a very irregular and low altitude area, exposed to the influence of the Atlantic Ocean. The Atlantic influence, the soil of granite origin, the weather of low thermal amplitude and average precipitation rates, translate the freshness, the elegance and the character of the wines produced in it..

    Terroir

    Tradition

Manual harvesting is organized by plots, ensuring the best grapes and harvesting at the right time. Traditional practices are combined with modern winemaking technologies, with the aim of obtaining aromatic, balanced and harmonious wines. The fermentation of the red wines is carried out in granite presses and its stage in stainless-steel wine vats. On the other hand, white wines ferment in a controlled temperature on the stainless-steel wine vats. The remaining stages and production requirements are also defined by wine category, resulting in complex, light and high freshness wines.
